德國(guó)康斯坦茨大學(xué)生物系知名教授，1971年畢業(yè)于德國(guó)歌廷根大學(xué)微生物學(xué)系。主要從事分子植物病理學(xué)和分子細(xì)胞學(xué)的研究。1999-2001曾任《Molecular Plant-Microbe Interactions》雜志編委，1987-今任《Physiological and Molecular Plant Pathology》雜志編委。
主要研究方向：（1）真菌侵染和銹菌中的活體營(yíng)養(yǎng)；（2）普通蘆葦相關(guān)真菌多樣性及其在蘆葦群落的建立和衰落中的作用；（3）火疫病的生物防治機(jī)制。
在Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Molecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, Nature, Plant Cell, Plant Physiology, Planta, Proceedings of the National Academy Science of the United States of America, Science, The Plant Journal, Trends in Plant Science等許多著名國(guó)際學(xué)術(shù)期刊上發(fā)表了200多篇研究論文和評(píng)論。
